Ithaca, NY (February 6, 2020) – Firefighters in Ithaca rescued a woman on Wednesday, February 5th, after she fell 40-feet down an embankment at Six Mile Creek gorge. The accident happened between Giles Street and Treva Avenue, according to authorities.
Police stated that a woman was walking in the area when she slipped and fell into the gorge. A passerby called emergency rescue crews after hearing her screams for help coming from below Treva Avenue. Emergency responders rappelled down into the gorge where they rendered aid to the woman and brought her to safety.
The victim was quickly put into an ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital. The exact condition of the injured woman has not been reported.
