Berlin, NY (February 09, 2020) – One person was killed during a two-truck accident on Thursday, February 6th.
Officers from the Berlin Police Department reported to the scene of the collision at about 7:00 a.m. following alerts of an accident at Route 113 and South Main Street.
A 2000 Chevy S10 pick-up truck was crossing Route 113 at its intersection with South Main Street when he ran into a wrecker.
The driver of the S10, Johnie Derrickson, 73, was from Parsonsburg.
Tragically, he died at the scene.
Robert Kressman, a 58-year-old New Yorker and the driver of the wrecker, was not injured during the incident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Johnie Derrickson, at this time.
Fatal Collisions in Berlin
The U.S. Department of Transportation has published data that asserts that roughly 2.5 million drivers and passengers throughout the United States sustain injuries of one kind or another stemming from their involvement in a car accident. The aftereffect of these injuries for about 36,000 of those car accident victims is death.
The really upsetting thing about all of this is that a considerable chunk of these vehicle collisions that have led to so much injury and so much death could have been avoided entirely seeing as how they were the direct result of negligence on the part of the driver.
